Together

There have been a number of issues which have divided people this year. Polarising perspectives have split friends and family members. Different opinions are, of course, part of everyday life. All forms of decision-making may involve discussion and possibly a certain degree of compromise. We won’t always agree with the outcome, but we find a way through. This year has felt particularly toxic though. Driven in part by mainstream media, social media, fake news, and the propagation of each of these by people who don’t know any better. And by those who do know better but are motivated by passionate and deeply held beliefs.

I don’t want to dwell on the above. Instead, I would like to share with you something I wrote this autumn. There are times when people come together. Sometimes tragedy unites communities; differences are put aside as individuals support one and other. At other times, nature will draw people close. Reminding us that we are but small component parts of a bigger whole. Whatever that whole might be.
